1. Collection of Personal Information
Personal information is information or opinion from which an individual’s identity may be ascertained. The nature of personal information collected by the Domain Grabber App generally comprises of data related to the professional practice of a mental health clinician.
The Domain Grabber App does not collect personal information unless it is necessary for the Domain Grabber App to perform one or more of its functions and activities.
The Domain Grabber App will generally collect this personal information from you directly, as part of your domain registration activities.
2. Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
The Domain Grabber App will use and disclose personal information for the purpose for which the personal information was initially collected.
The Domain Grabber App may also use that personal information for a purpose related to the initial purpose of collection if that other purpose would be within your reasonable expectations.
The Domain Grabber App will not use or disclose your personal information for any other purposes without first obtaining your express or implied consent.
The Domain Grabber App does not collect or disclose personal information to the developers.
3. Whois public data
This app collects personal information about you or your company, for the purposes of submitting domain registration requests to supporting registrars. By default, the app enables ‘Whois privacy/proxy’ features, if supported by your registrar and target TLD. When you register a domain, some of this personal information may be made available using the public WHOIS system. The exact fields made public are TLD-specific, but usually your full name, email address, postal address and phone number are published.
Anyone can use a WHOIS query to see contact information for your domain. You can choose whether you want to hide your information, using WHOIS privacy and proxy features (Some information can’t be hidden). By default, the Domain Grabber app enables these features, if supported by your registrar and target TLD. This option is selectable in the ‘Settings’ page. Understand that disabling this option may increase the amount of personal information disclosed through the WHOIS system, and that even when enabled there is some information that cannot be hidden. Further, understand that some TLDs do not support the use of these privacy/proxy features. Disclosure of personal information via the WHOIS system may lead to unforseen consequences, including increased unsolicited email spam to contact addresses, or identity theft.
You are required and encouraged to educate yourself as to the WHOIS information shared by each TLDs’ registry
4. Specific Data-flows within the app
The Domain Grabber App has been created, and is intended to be used for, the processing of domain registration requests through supported registrar and reseller APIs. It is intended to be a secure application that protects your privacy.
The App collects personal information and configuration parameters entered into a form by you, the user, directly. Upon submission, the contents of the form are parsed internally by the app.
A set of preferences are produced and stored internally in an on-device, app-specific container.
Additionally, for iOS devices, any API access credentials supplied are stored internally in an on-device, app-specific secure keychain location. If you use iCloud Keychain, these credentials may sync between your iCloud Keychain-enabled devices.
These details are held for later use by the app during the user-commanded domain availability or registration request function (the primary purpose of the app).
When executing the domain availability and domain registration functions, the app collects the name of the domain you wish to perform requests with, using a form. This domain name is combined with the previously saved personal information, preferences and API access credentials to form an API request that is specific to and conforms with a supported registrar/reseller, e.g. for use with the Amazon Route53 SDK.
This API request is sent directly to the registrar/reseller API endpoint, using TLS security. Their internal systems then use that information in accordance with their internal policies and technical procedures, in order to attempt a fulfilment of your API request.
At no point does this App attempt to share these details with anyone else, including the developer. We go to great lengths to protect and preserve the integrity of your personal information. Wherever possible, we make you aware of the potential for disclosing some or all of your personal information via the public WHOIS service, and make efforts to protect it by enabling ‘WHOIS privacy/proxy’ features by default.
At any time, you can clear the personal details contained within the App, by selecting the ‘Clear Settings’ function on the ‘Settings’ page. Personal information submitted during the course of domain registration is, however irrevocable (it has already been sent). We recommend you manage your domain contact information and other relevant settings via your registrar/resellers’ domain management dashboard (e.g. using Amazon Route53).
The Domain Grabber App does not disseminate any of the information entered into the forms by means other than the APIs and published endpoints of the supported registrar/reseller. Wherever possible, the App attempts to clear any temporary caches associated with the normal functioning of the App.
5. Developers’ role in the process
The developer has created this tool to allow you to submit domain registration requests in a timely manner to the supported registrar/reseller. Any operation of this app is between yourself and your registrar/reseller. We offer no guarantees of functionality or on-time registration. We specifically state that the app does not attempt realtime registration. Any errors during registration or mismatch of api fields is at your own risk. We encourage you to test the app for your specific situation.
6. Registrants’ Benefits and Responsibilities
You should be aware that you have benefits and responsibilities as a registrant. The eligibility requirements for a given TLD (top level domain) are TLD-specific and you are required to be aware of them before submitting registration requests. For .com/.net/.org TLDs, please consult ICANN. For general ICANN educational material, please consult this link.
